Great British Energy initiative
Halley House School was selected to join the government’s Great British Energy initiative, a programme supporting just 11 primary schools nationwide in their shift to renewable energy.
Over the half-term break, rooftop solar panels were installed at the school using funding secured through the initiative. This will help power our classrooms with clean, self-produced energy, with the potential to sell any leftover energy back to the grid. Over the lifetime of the panels, the school is projected to save £46,800, funds that will be reinvested directly into educational resources, improving the learning experience for all our pupils.
Toby Mills-Bishop, Headteacher, said: ”Money that we save on energy can then be directly put into front-line services that support our strong educational offer. The new solar panels will mean that I have more money, over the long term, to invest in the quality of education and the quality of opportunity children have here at Halley House School. We have enjoyed being a part of the scheme.”
