Tribute to Jennifer Conoley

It is with deep sadness that we learnt that our beloved Chef, Miss Jen, sadly passed away on 27 November 2023, surrounded by her loving family. As a school community we are devastated by the news of her passing and we are taking comfort in the knowledge that since 2017 we were blessed to call this incredibly kind and generous lady a colleague and, for some of us, family.

Jen was well loved by the children, staff and families of Halley House along with anyone whose life she touched. This was in no small part due to her enviable cooking skills, but more importantly, because of the wisdom, humour and joy that she served each of us with. She freely shared the gifts of friendship and laughter, along with her unique ability to make each member of the school feel like they were the only person in the room. Our community will no doubt remember her fondly for the gifts of love, her unforgettable food and sense of humour.

Chinese New Year

We remain in close contact with Jen’s family, and we will offer whatever support we can to them during this difficult time.

To honour Miss Jen’s memory we will be setting up a book of condolences at the school so that everyone can share their memories of her with her family. Our Parental Coffee Morning this Friday 1 Dec (9.15am) will be in celebration of Jen’s life at our school.

The school is working closely and being supported by our in-house Therapist James, our Educational Psychologist and our Wellbeing and Mental Health in Schools (WAMHS) link worker to put in place support for our pupils, colleagues and families who may need support in understanding why Jen will not be returning to our school.

Rest in peace dear Jen, from all of us at Halley House.
