Last Friday, Halley House celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite fictional characters! Staff and pupils spent the day as superheroes, pirates, wizards, witches, Wally and all kinds of weird and wonderful creations.
Well done to everyone for the effort involved in making this an event to remember!
The school has also been participating in Achievement for All’s 100 Million Minutes Reading Challenge – a national initiative that aims to engage children and young people with reading. Those involved will attempt to collectively read for 100 million minutes alongside early years settings, schools, colleges, parents, carers and other community groups. All reading counts towards a registered setting’s total, so children and young people can read anything from picture books to novels, and read alone, in pairs, or in groups with an adult. When you sign up to the challenge, you will get access to packs filled with ideas and materials to inspire children of all ages with reading!
